Oh my, it looks like nobody's been updating the blog! Well let me see. . . I was out of town on Monday the 9th, but I'm sure class was fantastic as usual. The 15th was open floor night, followed by Megan's solo jazz and team practice. (Not sure what happened in Megan's class, but in team practice, we worked on learning The Big Apple, did some mens' & womens' technique, speed training, and then a little choreography from Phil)
Yesterday, while Sonya taught the beginners' class, the intermediate class worked on some moves for closed position. We started out with Jig Walks, then moved on to "The Ryan" (or was that "The Todd"?), which is a tuck prep into a double turn where the lead stays with the follow as she travels to gather her back into closed on 7-8. Finally, we did two versions of an Eagle Slide from side-by-side: one out of a kick-ball-change on each partner's outside foot, and one out of a grapevine on and-3-and-4.
I'm sure Megan did something awesome with solo jazz during the 2nd hour, and the team continued with speed training, the Big Apple, and original choreography. We also worked on competition strategy and how to make the most of your dance time during spotlights.
Don't forget there are two out-of-town events coming up next month! Cowtown Jamborama is the 16th-19th of September in Omaha, Nebraska and Southern Fried Swing is the following weekend, the 24th-26th, in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
